It's been over 5 years since anyone has heard from Tom Vek. He released his impressive debut album We Have Sound in 2005, creating an avid fanbase who still to this day, have been patiently awaiting to hear any kind of follow-up. Only problem is, no one knows what has become of the man. Despite countless articles, and even the creation of a Facebook group on the subject, no one seems to be any closer to an answer.

In a digital age where we seem to know about each other's every move, he has somehow managed to allude any detection. And as the mystery continues, Tom Vek's status as a cult legend grows...

Theme Park Concept Sketches

I recently drew some concept sketches for a Movie Theme Park based in China. It was the first time creating work for a client that was meant to look unfinished and loose, with the sketch being the final product. What you see here are only a few that I drew.

It was definitely a fun project, especially because I got paid to do my two favorite things: concept & sketch!

Don't Waste the Outrage

I wanted to share a little behind the scenes on a recent editorial illustration I worked on for The Progressive. I love being given the freedom to conceptualize an image, rather than have an Art Director tell me up front what they expect to see. It's my favorite part of the art making process.

These are the three initial sketches I created before choosing one to base the final off of. I like sketching out as much of the idea with good old pencil on paper whenever possible. But with the last two, I ended up moving some elements around and drawing in a bit more with Photoshop in order to make their compositions fill the image space better.

I had a teacher that once said to save all your ideas, because even if you don't feel strongly about one, you may look at it differently down the road.

I drew this sketch approximately 3 years ago, and just recently created the painting " Mind Block ," based around it. Glad I kept it around.
